From a Network to an Ecosystem of Impact: Reflecting on the BCAAC Annual General Meeting 2026
Read about how our recent AGM marked a pivotal moment in our journey, transforming our network into a thriving ecosystem of UK-educated Cambodians driving positive change across the nation.

On the evening of March 13, 2026,
the British Chevening Alumni Association of Cambodia (BCAAC) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in a grand setting at Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh. The event was profoundly honored by the presence of H.E. Dominic Williams, British Ambassador to Cambodia, as Guest of Honour, alongside H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism and a highly esteemed Chevening Alumnus. This vibrant event brought together approximately 100 participants from a diverse and influential network, including Cambodian Chevening alumni, representatives from BritCham Cambodia, the UK’s Cambodian Women in STEM alumni, the British Alumni Association of Cambodia (BAAC), and various partner organizations.

Addressing the assembly,
BCAAC President Mr. Lydet PIDOR captured the profound essence of the gathering:
"Our journey in the UK was transformative. It shaped not only our knowledge but also how we lead, and it gave us a shared responsibility to give back. BCAAC is not simply a meeting of alumni; it is a community connected by knowledge, trust, and purpose—a platform for collaboration, contribution, and impact."
This deep sense of responsibility is vividly reflected in the association’s milestones over the past three years. The 30-plus initiatives executed are not mere statistics; they are driving forces that have positively impacted over 2,800 youth nationwide. Through extensive scholarship outreach and support for hundreds of vulnerable families, our community has truly translated UK-acquired knowledge into genuine national development.

We recognize that the scale of this success and our growth to this point would not have been possible without the strong foundation built by our predecessors. In light of this, the President initiated a special ceremony to present Certificates of Appreciation to the BCAAC Founder, former Presidents, board members and active alumni. This was a profound expression of gratitude for their sacrifices and visionary leadership, which paved the way for the association to stand strong today.
Turning a new page, the AGM marked the official launch of the BCAAC Website, acting as a digital hub to connect members and a crucial resource to inspire the next generation to seize the Chevening opportunity.
Additionally, the leadership announced the development of the Chevening Cambodia Book, as well as our upcoming participation in the Asia Chevening Alumni Conference in Japan, expanding our regional cooperation and elevating Cambodia’s prestige on the international stage.
With the collective strength of hundreds of alumni, BCAAC's vision is to transform this network into a connected ecosystem of UK-educated Cambodians. We firmly believe that the solidarity of this community will continue to inspire the next generation of leaders while further tightening the enduring bonds of friendship between Cambodia and the UK.
